About Goodharbour
I’m Karim Tarek,
the developer behind Goodharbour.
I build and improve Shopify stores, websites and web applications, and connect the systems behind them. Goodharbour is my independent studio, based in Victoria, BC.
You can work with me on a defined project or bring me into an existing team.
My background
I have worked in web development for more than 17 years. Since 2017, I’ve contributed to dozens of Shopify stores through direct client projects and agency work.
That includes nearly three years at PIVOT, a Shopify Plus agency partner, contributing to more than 20 DTC storefronts. That work involved understanding existing code, making changes across connected systems, and coordinating delivery with other developers.
I also built and maintain FieldsRaven, a published Shopify app, and StoreAudit, a Rails application for storefront audits and reports.
Building my own products has meant working through the whole process: defining the idea, writing the application, releasing it and maintaining it afterward.

Why I work this way
I prefer direct working relationships. I want to understand what you need and stay involved in the decisions that affect the result.
What you can expect from me
Questions before recommendations. I ask how the work happens today and what you need to improve.
Clear tradeoffs. If an existing tool or a smaller change makes more sense, I’ll say so.
Early communication. I share progress and let you know about problems or delays as soon as I see them.
Care with the handover. I document the work so the person maintaining it can understand what changed and why.
If a project needs design, content or another specialist, I’ll identify that need while defining the scope.
